FASHION SHOOT 26/08/15

Last Wednesday I assisted fashion stylist, Lucie Clifford on a 'High Street Hottest' fashion shoot at Snap studios in Shoreditch. It was a really laid back and fun experience and the team that were assisting with photography, hair and make-up as well as the beautiful model, Vanessa, were all so lovely.

I arrived at Snap studios, laid out all the mood boards and magazines for the hair stylist and make-up artist before unpacking all of the suitcases and hanging the outfits up in the dressing room. I had to remember which shoes and accessories went with which outfits but luckily it wasn't too confusing.

Once I'd hung the outfits in order and prepped them ready, I steamed each garment to get rid of creases and then dressed the model once her hair & make-up was finished. Then it was up to the photographer to get some good shots!

SHOOTING IN SHOREDITCH

Tomorrow I am assisting Fashion Stylist, Lucie Clifford on a high-street shoot in Shoreditch! I am so excited to be shooting in Shoreditch, it is such a hipster place and has such a buzz which will add to the atmosphere of the shoot.

We are shooting at Snap Studios, and will be soo busy all day from prepping outfits to dressing models and running on and off of the set to alter parts of the look. I'm not allowed to disclose any information about products used and I definitely won't be able to put any photos up of the shoot but I will blog about the experience as a fashion assistant tomorrow evening!

HARD WORK PAYS OFF

Today was the release of the first Look magazine I've assisted on while interning and I'm so happy to see the final outcome! It's a really weird feeling flicking through the pages of a magazine and recognising pages which you've helped put together but I love it! It's an extremely good issue - definitely worth a read! And Fearne Cotton looks absolutely stunning too!

MISSGUIDED

I finally bought one of the garments off of my wish list and I love it. The play suit looks so cute with a little waist belt to give a bit more shape, and accessorised with a fedora hat, and some white sliders it was my outfit of the weekend.

I NEED THIS IN MY LIFE

So the downside to working for a fashion magazine is that hundreds of sample garments come to Look before they hit the high street and I tend to find at least 10 items a day that are now on my wish list. As you can imagine my list is endless and my will power is extremely non existent so this temptation is so much worse!

I came across this Zara embroidered jacket on one of the high street clothes rails in the fashion cupboard the other day and I'm actually in love. It is so unusual and I'm obsessed with anything tapestry or a little bit colourful boho at the minute and this is definitely a must have.

INTERNING WEEK ONE

So my first week is over and I have loved every minute of the whole experience. I'm not going to lie, as an intern you are expected to do a ridiculous amount but I guess I'd rather be busy than have nothing to do!

I've learnt an awful lot about the way a magazine publication is run and also the roles of everyone within the Look team and it is definitely an environment I aspire to work in.

This week we have been doing several tasks and preparation for upcoming fashion shoots for magazine issues in the near future.

[THE FASHION CUPBOARD]

Some of the intern responsibilities include:

- Incoming Samples (Checking each parcel in and write incoming dockets for them, hang them on the appropriate shoot rail and file incoming paperwork.)

- Return Samples (Sending samples back to the relevant press offices through the use of FashionMonitor - an online contact website for all PR companies and addresses - and again write dockets, package them up ready to be sent and place them in the returns bin.)

- Fashion Shoot Prep (Assigned a specific shoot in assistance to one of the stylists and organising all of the incoming samples ready for the shoot with labels and keeping all samples together.)

- Writing Credits (Writing all of the credits for the magazine for the fashion shoot samples used with appropriate prices which have been obtained from the relevant press offices.)

- Email (Answering all emails and making sure all urgent sample requests are dealt with and taken to the post room for collection.)

- Answering Telephone (Taking calls regarding sample call backs and also contacting reception to ensure models are brought up for castings efficiently.)

- TapToBuys (Researching all garments used and find the links for them on their website, using an affiliate website to get the deep link to be used on the online edition of the magazine.)

- Suitcase (Packing and unpacking suitcases which are being used for shoot days.)

- Assisting Shoots (Going on fashion shoots to assist the stylist with dressing models and setting up clothes.)

So it's been a pretty manic week but I've definitely learnt a lot and I'm excited for the next few weeks to come!

I'll keep you updated!

LOOK MAGAZINE INTERNSHIP

Day 1: So today I started interning for Look magazine in Southwark, London. I am working alongside three other fashion interns and we are assisting the fashion, beauty and news teams.

The commute this morning wasn't as bad as I was expecting which made the day start well, and actually the Blue Fin Building was very easy to find so I managed to arrive on time!

When I arrived I was taken up to the seventh floor where I was met by Sarah Barlow, the fashion assistant. Our work office during the internship is in the fashion cupboard which is full of rails and rails of amazing samples, bags, shoes, jewellery, hats, magazines, you name it! It was in there!

We had a tour around the building, and were explained the tasks and then we were left to get on with them. Today was mainly about getting all of the samples returned to the appropriate press offices and keeping the fashion cupboard organised at all times.

On our lunch break, we all went to the nearby outlet to buy something to eat and then came back to the offices to explore. We found this roof terrace which we sat outside and enjoyed the views whilst having lunch. It was absolutely amazing!

Anyway, I am on the train home now after a tiring first day of taking in loads of information. But I have really enjoyed it and can't wait to go back tomorrow.

I'll keep you posted.
